Otter Class have had a very busy first half term in Year 3. We have really enjoyed learning all about Roald Dahl this half term. We have written character descriptions on Mr Twit, learned interesting facts about Roald Dahl's life, been reading James and the Giant Peach as our class story and have even looked at an example of his poetry by looking at 'The Pig'. In Maths, we have continued to develop our fluency when using column addition and subtraction and have even applied our learning to solve more complex word problems. We have also enjoyed recapping different shapes and their properties and have looked at comparing different lengths. As a class, we have explored the Romans and have a strong understanding of why the Romans invaded Britain and how the Roman Empire spread across Europe. We thoroughly enjoyed our session with Pete the Poet and we even went on a magic carpet ride! Well done Otter Class for a great first half term back!
Playscripts
Otter Class loved practising and performing their playscripts from the BFG outside and really tried hard with their use of voice during their performances to each other. Well done Otter Class!
Skipping Workshop
The children had a brilliant time in the skipping workshop and absolutely loved engaging in all the challenges! It has been great to see so many children using the skills they learned while skipping during their break and lunchtimes too.
Remembrance
Otter Class had a great time learning about Mosaics in History and then creating their own Poppy mosaics for remembrance. The children are incredibly proud of their creations and enjoyed some quiet time in the afternoon remembering all those who fought in the war.
