Year 2 - Mallard Class 2020 - 2021

Welcome to Mallard Class with Mrs Kerrigan & Miss Gunea.

Autumn 2020

In Computing, the children had fun using algorithms and working in groups to programme a Beebot around a set course. In English, when we read ‘The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch’ we thought it would be fun to make our own working lighthouses! The children did a fantastic job!

Pete the Poet came to visit us and we had a great hour learning some performance poetry and dressing up! It was an amazing session and we found poetry could be such fun! In one of our art lessons this term, the children learnt how to draw parabolic curves. They used straight lines to make curved lines! How clever!

In Maths, we have been learning about our place value and separating our tens and ones. We used some apparatus to help us do this and we could then use it to help us subtract.

Earlier this term, we enjoyed PE outside learning different skills with balls, bean bags, rackets, frisbees and hoops. We divided into teams and worked together to complete the activities. What a great time we had learning how to skip properly. We used our ropes to play games and we also learnt how to be very creative with our skipping (hopscotch and hopping!)

Making Christmas Elves & Tealight Holders - As part of our D & T curriculum the children enjoyed making their own Christmas elf puppets with moving arms and legs! Also, they created some beautiful tealight holders for their families.
