    Visit from Pudsey

Pudsey came to visit the children at Little Kingfishers’ Day Nursery to say a big thank you for all their amazing fundraising efforts for Children in Need. The children were so excited to meet Pudsey in person. There were plenty of smiles, cuddles, and even a few high-fives!

    Zooming on our Bikes

The children have really enjoyed having the opportunity to ride their bikes on the playground. They have loved setting up cones to create their own roads and tracks, using their imagination to design routes and challenges. The children have also had lots of fun using the road signs to direct each other safely around the track, taking turns to be “traffic controllers” and learning about road safety as they play. It’s been a great way to develop their coordination, confidence, and teamwork skills while having plenty of outdoor fun!

    Library Visits

This term, the Butterflies have been thoroughly enjoying their weekly visits to the school library. Everyone loves exploring the wide range of books on offer, discovering new stories and revisiting familiar favourites. Their absolute favourite part of the visit is choosing a few special books to take back to nursery for the week, where they can enjoy reading them with friends and adults. These trips have been a wonderful way to encourage a love of reading, spark curiosity, and develop early literacy skills in a fun and engaging way.

    Gymnastics

This term in P.E., we have been focusing on developing our gymnastic skills. The children have been practising climbing, balancing, and moving in a variety of ways, exploring different techniques and challenges. Everyone has loved using the range of gymnastic equipment in the hall, from beams and mats to climbing frames. It has been wonderful to see the children grow in confidence, improve their coordination, and support each other as they try new movements. Their enthusiasm and determination have made P.E. lessons both fun and rewarding!

    World Book Day

On Thursday 7th March, we celebrated World Book Day with lots of excitement and creativity! The children came dressed as their favourite book characters, bringing their beloved stories to life. Throughout the day, they took part in a variety of book-related activities, from story reading and character role-play to fun quizzes and craft sessions inspired by their favourite tales. It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and enthusiastic, celebrating their love of reading in such a fun and imaginative way.

    Shrove Tuesday

This week, the children thoroughly enjoyed designing, making, and eating pancakes! They had the chance to choose from a variety of delicious toppings, from fruits to chocolate, and had lots of fun experimenting with different combinations. Some of the children even had a go at flipping their own pancakes.

    Happy Chinese New Year

The children at Little Kingfishers had a wonderful time celebrating Chinese New Year! They explored the traditions and customs associated with the festival, enjoyed craft activities such as making lanterns and decorations, and learnt about the story of the Chinese zodiac. It was a fun and engaging way for the children to experience a different culture and enjoy creative, hands-on learning.

    Merry Christmas

Christmas has been a festive and joyful time here at Little Kingfishers! The children have taken part in a wide range of Christmas-themed activities, from decorating and crafting to singing festive songs. They especially loved creating their own Christmas crafts, which they were excited to take home and share with their families. It has been a wonderful way to celebrate the season, fostering creativity, excitement, and a real sense of festive cheer throughout the nursery.

    Helicopter visit

The nursery had a very exciting visit from Santa’s Elves! They made a grand entrance by helicopter, much to the children’s delight. Nursery had the special opportunity to hand over their letters to Santa, knowing the elves would deliver them safely to the North Pole. It was a magical experience!

    Children in Need

On Friday 17th November, the nursery had a fantastic time raising awareness and funds for Children in Need. The children took part in a variety of Pudsey-themed activities, from games to creative crafts, and even enjoyed making their very own Pudsey ears to wear. It was a fun and engaging way for the children to learn about helping others while celebrating this important charity event.

    Yoga

The children have really enjoyed doing yoga in our dance studio. They love exploring and creating different poses, using their imaginations to make the sessions fun and engaging. Over time, they have also worked hard on improving their balance, coordination, and focus, making yoga both a relaxing and skill-building activity.
